April 4 First Home Phone Installed (1877) Call someone, then read:
Hello Hello It used to be we could only write letters, now we can use the telephone! It's fast and easy! How will we communicate in the future? Young readers will discover the concept of this great invention along with a quick history of this technological advancement. April 10 National Sibling Day Appreciate yours, then read: Little Brothers Are... Little brothers can be wriggly, bubbly, naughty and scared. They are shouty, pouty, messy and mad. Every little brother is different, but we love them all the same. The newest addition to the Toddler Tales series, quality picture books bringing first words, first concepts and first stories to life.
Spanish edition also available: Los hermanitos son... April 21 Kindergarten Day Remember your first day, then read: Something for School
It's the first day of kindergarten. "Boys come here, girls go over there." As soon as her teacher asked, Yoon went to line up." When Yoon's new teacher and classmates mistake her for a boy, she must find a way to express who she is - inside and out. A joyful picture book about starting school and making friends (instead of assumptions). April 23 Home Run Day Hit one out of the park, then read: Hit the Ball Duck This brightly illustrated sequel to Duck in the Truck and Duck's Key: Where Can It Be? begins with Duck batting in a pickup game of baseball. When the ball he hits gets stuck in a tall tree, he tosses up his bat and a glove to knock it down, and soon all three are caught in the branches. At the story's outset, little Frog is dismissed as too small for ball with his bigger friends, but he surprises Goat, Sheep, and Duck with a clever play at the story's end. The rhyming text flows along rhythmically, while the illustrations dramatize the action and underscore the visual comedy of the narrative. This simple baseball story is a good choice for young children, who will empathize with Duck's difficulties and savor Frog's moment of triumph. Being at home most of the day has it's privileges. When my kids were smaller and going to Elementary School, I was always ask to come help with some sort of craft for the holidays. I could not believe how thrilled their teacher was to have some help and a new idea! And I also could not believe that none of the other Moms had ever volunteered to come in and help. My kids are in high school and college now so I am not ask to come help with their class anymore. But I do have a wonderful sister that teaches kindergarten, and she is always asking me to come and do things with her class. I thought that I'd share one of the crafts that I got out of Christmas Fun, from Usborne Books. This is a simple and fun craft that kids grade k-6 can keep and put on their tree at home. Or give as a gift!

Enjoy!

One reason I started with Usborne Books, is because 2 of my children are LD. I found it very hard to get the to read anything or keep them interested in what they were reading. The schools around here from kindergarten to the 6th grade require that they read a certain amount of time each day. Getting a book that would hold their attention or be able to read was very difficult. They loved for me to read to them (yes, I enjoyed them to!) After I decided to find a business that I could do from home, this company caught my eye. And believe me I searched high and low! I didn't want to start something that everyone else was doing, I wanted something different. So I chose these wonderful books so that my children would also benifit from my business. No one around here had ever heard of these books, except the Librarian! I also decided to become an Educational Consultant. I mean, I was always going to school on field trips, doing crafts with the class, helping out however I could, just so I could be active in the classroom. So becoming known to the Librarian and teachers was a plus for me! This was the business that I wanted to be a part of. If you want to work from home, find what works and what you have a passion for. If you don't love the product,or the company, then you won't be excited about telling everyone what business you have!
