Life is so unpredictable. We have no idea what might happen from one minute to the next. I really need to brag about my Mom right now. She is so precious to me and so amazing. She is 85 years old. Never complains. She had to start working at the age of 11 years old outside of home. ( she was making bread at 9 years of age.) Her job was cleaning for schools, theatre, offices and peoples homes. Right up to the age of 79, she still had 3 homes that she worked at doing light house work. She had only finished working then because two of her customers had passed away and one went into a nursing home.
My Mom had so many changes in her life in the last two years. She had a heart attack, which didn't stop her from being as active as she could. Her husband (my Dad) passed away, then six months later her son ( my brother) passed away. She had to sell her home and move in with my sister that lives 2 1/2 hours away. I had to be away for a few months, but when I returned home, my Mom started spending more and more time with me again. My mom and I were always close, we were more friends than mother and daughter.
On Friday, we were preparing dinner, just chatting and laughing about silly little things. She was standing at the kitchen counter ready to peel some carrot, when she turned, tripped and fell. It wasn't a hard fall because she caught herself my holding onto the table. But, it was enough to brake her hip.
She had surgery the next day. They wouldn't put her to sleep because of her heart. It went very well. This is now day three since her surgery. She was given pain medication the night of her surgery and had not had to take anything since. She is already up walking about. The nures and the surgeon are all amazed at her. She will probably be home with me again within a few days. I can't wait to have her back.
We should always hang onto what is precious in our life, for we never know when it can be taken away. I have went through many different feelings in the last few days. Sad, guilty, afraid, happy, grateful and sometimes not knowing how I feel. I know one thing, I am now looking at life in a whole different way.
MY MOM IS THE GREATEST!
~~Until next time ~~
I'm so excited. This is my first blog! I'm jumping in with cold feet. LOL. Each day I am in a different mood. Today, I'm excited, tomorrow--who knows. It took me a long time to blog. For awhile I thought that blogging was very difficult. I've read many blogs, wondering-- WOW-- how do people come up with the things that they blog about! I thought BOY, if I could only blog like these people. THEN THE LIGHT CAME ON! I finally realized, I have to be my own person. I have my own unique ideas and I have so many thoughts floating around in my head that I could blog forever. LOL.~~Until next time~~
My name is Linda. I'm married with three children. They are all grown now with kids of their own. I have six grandchildren and one grandchild. Boy, do that mean that I am now over the hill? LOL! I live in Newfoundland, Canada, where the winters are very cold with lots and lots of snow. The summers are beautiful, especially when we can watch the whales and dolphins in the Bay. I have a pet dog named Brandy. She's part Chihuahua, and very yappy, but I love her anyway. Well, that's it about me right now. ~~Until Tomorrow~~
