Okay, maybe impressed is NOT the word I should be using here. More like I'm ADDICTED! lol! Coming from the generation who has seen them all now, I'm just blown away with the Wii. Yep, I owned an Atari, lol. Or Atari 2600 to be exact.
My inlaws bought the Wii for my kids for Christmas this year. Well, as far as anyone else knows .. Santa bought them a Wii ... but that's besides the point. They had purchased it used on Ebay and got one heck of a deal.
There was the Wii player, the stand, an extra "after market" stand that has a light and a fan, Wii Play, Wii Sports, 2 controllers, 2 nunchucks, controller chargers ... but that's not all. It also included Rock Band & Guitar Hero III as well as all the instruments and all ... the whole shabang. My MIL really did a great job with this one. And she got it all for $369 (including shipping!)
I was starting to wonder though if the Wii was for my kids or for my husband and I. Again, he's also owned almost all of them ... right back to the Atari too.
Nintendo has really outdone themselves with this. The Wii literally takes gaming to the next level. I love the fact that my kids aren't just sitting around with a controller in their hand. They're actually up rolling the bowling ball, hitting the tennis ball, cheering, dancing ... you name it, and they're doing it.
I love the idea that my family can gather one evening and having a bowling tornament - even if there's six feet of snow out there - we don't have to go anywhere. A tennis match, boxing ... WOW! Have I mentioned I'm amazed?
I was literally blown away when I couldn't get the bowling down pat. I couldn't figure out why everyone else was getting spares and strikes and I was only knocking down a couple pins. Then my nephew says, "Aunt Neet, you're turning your wrist! That's why."
Huh? Are you serious? You mean to tell me that my "handicap" in "real life bowling" actually shows in this game? My VIDEO GAME score is affected by my inability to keep my wrist straight just like in "real live bowling". Needless to say ... you can move that little Mii and compensate for the handicap ... uh, just like "real live bowling".
So, my score is still way lower than everyone else's but who cares ... we're having a GREAT time!
Even if you're not a gamer ... not into the Playstations or XBox's ... I STILL HIGHLY recommend checking out a Wii. If you're looking for a lot of family fun, a little bit of exercise (okay, sometimes ALOT of exercise, lol) ... and just an all out good time. Check out a Wii. You and your kids will thank you!
Hehe ... I haven't seen my mom touch a video game since we made her try out the Atari. But you can bet your tooshie we had her up bowling the other day and having a fantastic time!
Bravo Nintendo! You've really outdone yourself this time! Keep up the great work.
P.S. Don't forget though ... if you do get a Wii.
WARNING: Extremely Addicting! (But who cares - go have some fun!!)
